Without superpowers, Batman always relied on intellect and physical training to fight crime.  But what if Batman had superpowers?  In “Batman – Superman of Planet X!” in Batman #113, our hero is transported to the planet Zur-En-Arrh to aid that planet’s caped crusader in defeating an invasion force from another world.  Once he arrives, Batman discovers that on this strange planet he has superpowers like his friend Superman back on Earth.

Using his training and his new-found superhuman abilities,  Batman defeats the invasion force and saves the people of Zur-En-Arrh!  This story is one of many science fiction themed adventures in the pages of Batman and Detective Comics in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  The popularity of the genre spawned many of these strange adventures and placed our heroes in situations far removed from their typical stories of the 1940s and early to mid-1950’s.
