This action-packed 68-page anthology leads off with a retelling of The Flash’s origin.  Then,  Mr. Norris has created a Medusa-like serum that turns living things to stone,  and when it predictably falls into the hands of criminal Joe Callen and his gang,  Jay races to save the day.  Next,  the Speedster stops a criminal genius called the Monocle,  who is building an illicit collection of jewels stolen from women in high society.
In another tale,  Cowboy Jack Crofts is going home to take his place as heir to his family’s oil-rich Oklahoma land,  but The Flash has to protect him from the rotten Mr. Benton and his gang.  Finally,  Jay lends a hand to a hapless father whose daughter’s medical bills have led him to invest in a hockey team as a means of making money;  unfortunately,  the team is co-owned by criminals,  including racketeer Dagger Daniels.

Kudos to Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg for his expert commentary above and to the talented artists and writers of DC Comics who captivated and inspired millions of readers during this magical Golden Age.
